Pro Clima Kalfex Duo Cable Grommet - Twin 4.8-12mm - 145mm x 145mm Pack 15

Pro Clima Kalflex Duo is an airtight twin-cable grommet for sealing two cables simultaneously through airtightness layers. Accommodating cables from 4.8mm to 12mm in diameter, it provides a neat and reliable airtight seal at a 145mm x 145mm flange. Supplied in a pack of 15.
The Problem With Cable Penetrations
An airtightness membrane is only as good as its weakest point. Overlaps and edges can be taped. Junctions with structure can be sealed with Orcon F. But every cable, pipe, or conduit that passes through the membrane represents a potential air leakage point — and on a typical timber frame or high-performance build, there can be dozens of them. Electrical cables passing through ceilings and walls, data cables, speaker cables, lighting circuits — each one needs to be individually sealed if the airtight layer is to be continuous.
Foam and tape workarounds are unreliable at these points. The Kaflex range is the engineered solution.
How Kaflex Mono Works
Each Kaflex Mono grommet consists of two components permanently bonded together: a square patch of Tescon Vana airtightness tape (the same water-resistant solid acrylic adhesive tape used throughout the Proclima system), and a pre-cut EPDM rubber grommet moulded into its centre.
The EPDM rubber has a pre-formed hole sized slightly smaller than the cable it's designed to seal. When the cable is pushed through, the rubber stretches to grip the outer surface of the cable tightly — forming an airtight mechanical seal around the cable without any adhesive, foam, or secondary sealing required. The Tescon Vana backing then bonds the entire grommet patch flat to the membrane surface, sealing the grommet itself to the airtightness layer in the same way tape seals a membrane overlap.
The result is a permanently airtight cable penetration that takes seconds to install.
Cables Can Still Be Repositioned
One of the most practical features of the Kaflex system is that cables can continue to be pushed or pulled through the grommet after it has been installed and the adhesive has set. The EPDM rubber grips the cable tightly enough to maintain an airtight seal, but flexibly enough that the cable can slide through it. This means Kaflex can be installed early in the build programme — before final cable lengths are determined — without trapping the cable at a fixed position. Service engineers can make adjustments later without compromising the membrane.
Interior and Exterior Use
Kaflex Mono is rated for both internal and external applications. Used internally on Intello Plus or DA membranes for electrical cable penetrations through walls, ceilings, and floors. Used externally on Solitex Plus and other breather membranes where cables or conduits penetrate the external airtight or windtight layer. Can be left exposed externally for up to 6 months before the final cladding or roofing is installed.
Important Installation Notes
Kaflex grommets must be fitted before cabling is fully terminated. At least one free end of the cable must be accessible to thread through the grommet — the grommet cannot be cut or split to fit around a completed cable run, as this would compromise the EPDM seal. For cables larger than 12mm diameter, or for pipe penetrations, use the Proclima Roflex range instead. Do not overstretch the EPDM beyond its rated maximum diameter — doing so will compromise the seal.
Application
Clean the membrane surface and ensure it is free from dust and moisture at the application point. Peel the release paper from the Tescon Vana backing. Thread the cable end through the EPDM grommet hole, stretching it carefully over the cable. Position the grommet patch centrally over the membrane penetration point, press flat, and run a Pressfix seam roller around the perimeter to ensure full tape adhesion to the membrane. For additional security on external applications or on rough substrates, seal the outer perimeter of the Tescon Vana patch with a further strip of Tescon Vana.
