Description

Pro Clima Orcon F is a flexible, solvent-free adhesive and sealant for bonding and connecting airtightness membranes, tapes, and building boards. Applied via a standard cartridge gun, it remains permanently elastic, making it ideal for sealing complex junctions and penetrations where movement may occur.

When Tape Won't Do the Job

Airtightness tapes are the right tool for the majority of membrane sealing work — overlaps, edges, flat panel joints, and connections to smooth structural elements. But building sites aren't always flat and smooth. Rough concrete floors, uneven masonry, irregular timber, curved surfaces, and tight or confined junctions can all make tape application impractical or unreliable. Orcon F is the solution for every one of these situations.

Applied as a bead from a standard cartridge gun, it flows into surface irregularities and bonds to both surfaces being joined, forming a flexible, permanently airtight seal that conforms to the substrate rather than bridging over it. Where tape would lift, bridge, or fail to make full contact, Orcon F holds.

Elastic and Permanently Flexible

The critical difference between Orcon F and standard silicone or construction sealants is its long-term elasticity. Standard sealants — including many silicones — harden and become brittle over time. At critical airtight junctions, where seasonal temperature movement, settlement, and structural flex are constant, a brittle sealant will eventually crack and the seal will fail.

Orcon F is based on non-ageing acrylate polymers that remain permanently flexible for the life of the building. It won't harden, shrink, or crack, meaning the airtight bond it forms at installation is maintained for decades without maintenance or resealing. Independently tested and Passivhaus certified, it is one of the few adhesive sealants with a verified 100-year service life when used as part of the Proclima system.

Where It's Used

Orcon F is a genuinely multi-purpose product with applications across internal and external sealing tasks:

  • Bonding airtightness membranes (Intello Plus, DA) to rough concrete floor slabs where tape cannot achieve a reliable contact
  • Sealing membrane edges to rough-sawn or uneven timber where tape adhesion is uncertain
  • Bonding membranes to masonry, block, and plaster substrates — particularly at wall-floor and wall-ceiling junctions
  • Windtight bonding of external breather membranes (Solitex Plus, Solitex Fronta) to timber, metal, and mineral substrates
  • Sealing around pipe and cable penetrations where Roflex or Kaflex grommets are connected to the membrane
  • Taping onto rough or porous substrates as a primer bed before tape is applied over the top
  • Sealing the perimeter of membranes to wallplates, ring beams, and structural elements in timber frame construction
  • Any junction too irregular, confined, or curved for tape to work reliably

Important: This Is an Adhesive, Not a Gap Filler

Orcon F is a high-performance bonding adhesive, not a gap-filling compound. It is designed to form a thin, flexible adhesive layer between two surfaces that are in close contact — it should not be used to fill significant voids or gaps. It also contains water and denatured alcohol as carriers, and should not be applied near live electrical installations for this reason.

Wet and Dry Application Methods

For most applications, the wet method is used: apply a bead of Orcon F to one of the surfaces being joined, then press the membrane directly into the wet adhesive without pressing the bead completely flat. This works well on any application where at least one surface is absorbent (timber, masonry, concrete). For bonding non-absorbent surfaces together — such as PE film to concrete — a two-stage dry method is available; contact Proclima's technical team for guidance on this approach.

Application Notes

Sweep or wipe surfaces clean of dust and loose material before applying. On unstable, crumbling, or highly porous surfaces, stabilise first with Tescon Primer RP. Apply a continuous 5–8mm bead along the joint using a standard cartridge gun. Where two parallel beads are needed simultaneously (for example, when bonding a membrane along a floor perimeter), a double nozzle connector is available separately. Minimum application temperature is -10°C; the adhesive remains stable in storage down to -20°C.

Coverage

  • 310ml cartridge: approximately 6–15 linear metres (depending on bead diameter)
  • 600ml foil tube also available for larger volume applications
