Pro Clima Roflex 30 Pipe Grommet 30-50mm - 140mm x 140mm (Pack of 10)

Pro Clima Roflex 30 is an airtight pipe grommet for sealing circular pipe penetrations between 30mm and 50mm diameter through vapour control and airtightness membranes. The flexible rubber collar compresses to form a durable airtight seal, with a 140mm x 140mm membrane bonding flange.
Pipe Penetrations — The Detail Most Often Missed
Soil pipes, waste pipes, MVHR ducting, water supply pipes, flue pipes, gas pipes — on any substantial build, there will be multiple circular pipes passing through the airtightness layer. Each one is a potential air leakage point, and each one needs an engineered seal to maintain the continuity of the airtight envelope. Tape alone can't do it reliably on a round pipe. Roflex can.
How Roflex 30 Works
Roflex 30 is a flat disc of non-ageing EPDM rubber with a pre-cut central hole sized smaller than the pipe it's rated for. To install, the pipe end is fed through the hole, stretching the EPDM rubber to grip the pipe circumference tightly. The rubber is highly elastic and conforms to the pipe surface with consistent, even pressure all the way round — forming a mechanical airtight seal that requires no adhesive between grommet and pipe.
The EPDM disc is then positioned flat against the membrane surface and sealed around its perimeter using Tescon Vana tape, which bonds the grommet to the membrane and completes the airtight connection between pipe and airtight layer. The result is a sealed penetration where no air can pass — either around the pipe through the EPDM, or between the EPDM and the membrane through the tape.
Key Difference From Roflex 20 and Kaflex
The smaller Roflex 20 (15–30mm) and the Kaflex cable grommets come with an integrated self-adhesive Tescon Vana backing — they're a patch of tape with the EPDM grommet already bonded to it. The Roflex 30 and larger sizes are supplied as EPDM discs only, without integrated tape. Tescon Vana needs to be ordered separately and applied around the perimeter of the grommet during installation. This approach gives more flexibility for positioning and taping on larger diameter penetrations where a pre-applied backing patch would be less practical.
Pipes Can Still Be Repositioned
As with the Kaflex cable grommets, the EPDM rubber grips the pipe firmly enough to maintain an airtight seal under building conditions, but remains flexible enough for the pipe to be pushed or pulled through the grommet after installation. This is a significant practical advantage over foam or tape-only solutions, which lock the pipe in position and have to be cut out if the pipe needs to be adjusted. Roflex allows Proclima's airtightness system to accommodate normal construction sequencing without compromising the seal.
Heat Resistant to 150°C
Roflex grommets are rated for continuous service up to 150°C, making them suitable for most pipe and duct applications including hot water pipes, heating pipework, and MVHR ducting. For higher-temperature applications such as wood-burning stove flue pipes where temperatures may exceed 150°C, a specialist high-temperature grommet is required — contact us for guidance.
Interior and Exterior Use
Roflex 30 can be used internally on airtightness membranes (Intello Plus, DA) and externally on breather membranes (Solitex Plus, Solitex Fronta WA). When used externally, the sealed grommet can be exposed to UV and weather for up to 6 months before the final cladding or roofing is installed over it.
Important Installation Notes
At least one free end of the pipe must be accessible to thread the grommet onto — Roflex cannot be cut or split to fit around a finished pipe run, as this would compromise the EPDM seal. Do not exceed the maximum rated diameter (50mm for the Roflex 30); overstretching the rubber reduces the grip force and risks air leakage. For pipes larger than 50mm, use the Roflex 50 (50–90mm) or the appropriate larger size. Tescon Vana tape must be ordered separately for sealing the grommet to the membrane.
Application
Slide the Roflex 30 grommet over the free end of the pipe and position it at the point where the pipe passes through the membrane. Pull the membrane snug against the back of the grommet. Apply Tescon Vana tape around the full perimeter of the grommet, overlapping onto both the EPDM rubber and the membrane surface, and press firmly using a Pressfix seam roller. Where the membrane substrate requires it, apply Tescon Primer RP or Sprimer to the membrane surface before taping.
