Description

Pro Clima Tescon Sprimer is a spray-applied primer for improving tape adhesion on smooth, dusty, or low-energy surfaces. The convenient 750ml spray bottle allows fast, even application over larger areas, making it an efficient solution for site preparation prior to taping.

Same Performance, Faster Application

Tescon Primer RP and Tescon Sprimer do the same job: they penetrate into porous, dusty, fibrous, or potentially unstable surfaces and consolidate them into a firm, reliable base for Proclima airtightness tapes and Orcon F adhesive to bond to. The difference is purely in how they're applied.

Tescon Primer RP comes in a squeeze bottle, applied with a brush or roller — better suited to flat, accessible areas where you're covering a reasonable length of tape run in one go. Tescon Sprimer comes in a pressurised aerosol can with an adjustable nozzle — better suited to awkward spots, overhead work, areas difficult to reach with a brush, or any situation where carrying a bottle and separate brush is impractical. Between the two, most sites will benefit from having both.

The Site Advantages of a Spray Format

The practical benefits on site are significant. The can fits in a tool belt or jacket pocket, leaving both hands free when working at height or up a ladder. The adjustable nozzle rotates to spray horizontally or vertically, covering hard-to-reach angles in a single pass. There's no brush to clean, no risk of contaminating the primer container with site dust, and no separate equipment to carry. Where speed and access matter — sealing around roof penetrations, working in tight rafter bays, priming window reveals at height — the spray format consistently saves time.

No Drying Time — Tape Straight On

Like Primer RP, Tescon Sprimer requires no drying time on absorbent surfaces. Shake the can for 20 seconds, spray from approximately 20cm, and apply tape immediately over the wet primer. On non-absorbent surfaces, allow the primer to dry to transparency before taping for maximum bond strength. The primer is white when wet and becomes clear once dry.

Where It's Used

Tescon Sprimer is used before applying any Proclima tape or Orcon F to the following surface types:

  • Wood fibre insulation boards — primer is always required before taping these surfaces
  • Concrete — floors, walls, and structural elements
  • Masonry — brick, block, and sand-lime brick
  • Plaster and plasterboard
  • Rough-sawn or weathered timber
  • Any dusty, porous, or potentially delaminating surface
  • Window and door reveals in masonry before Contega Solido SL or Exo application
  • Overhead or hard-to-reach junctions where brush application is not practical

Compatible with all Proclima tapes — Tescon Vana, Tescon No.1, Tescon Rapic, Tescon Profil, and the Contega Solido range — and with Orcon F adhesive.

Works in Frosty Conditions

Tescon Sprimer can be used on dry or slightly damp surfaces and remains functional down to -5°C, making it a practical choice on winter build programmes. Do not apply to frozen or water-soaked surfaces.

Primer RP or Sprimer — Which to Choose?

Both products do the same job. Choose Primer RP for larger runs of accessible flat surface where a brush gives good control and the 1 litre bottle provides better economy per metre. Choose Sprimer for awkward areas, overhead work, confined spaces, complex geometry, or anywhere that carrying a bottle and brush would slow you down. Many airtightness contractors keep both on the van.

Application Notes

Clear the surface of loose dust and debris before applying. Shake the can vigorously for at least 20 seconds before use. Hold approximately 20cm from the surface and apply an even coat. Rotate the nozzle as needed for horizontal or vertical spray direction. Apply tape immediately on absorbent surfaces; allow to dry to transparency on non-absorbent surfaces before taping. Press tape firmly using a Pressfix seam roller to activate full adhesion.
