Description

Tescon Profil is Proclima's specialist corner and junction tape — a highly flexible, solid acrylic adhesive tape designed specifically for sealing angled joints, window and door reveals, and corners in airtightness and vapour control layers. Where flat tapes struggle to follow a sharp change of direction without bridging or lifting, Tescon Profil is engineered to do exactly that. Split release paper allows staged application corner by corner for clean, accurate sealing every time. 60mm x 30m.

The Tape for the Angles Flat Tapes Can't Handle

Corners and angled junctions are among the most vulnerable points in any airtight layer. A standard flat tape like Tescon Vana performs brilliantly on flat surfaces and simple overlaps — but pressed into a sharp internal corner, it wants to bridge the angle rather than follow it, leaving voids that become air leakage paths. Tescon Profil is built to solve this. Its highly elastic backing allows it to be folded cleanly into a right angle and pressed tight into the corner without bridging, lifting, or losing adhesive contact on either face.

The result is a genuinely airtight corner seal rather than one that looks sealed on the surface but has air paths hiding underneath.

Split Release Paper for Staged Application

Tescon Profil comes with two release paper strips running lengthways along the tape, dividing the adhesive face into two separately activatable halves. To seal a corner, the tape is pre-folded into an L-shape, one release strip is removed, and that side is pressed down onto the first surface. The second release strip is then removed and the remaining side pressed firmly onto the adjacent surface — giving precise control over positioning with no risk of the tape sticking to itself or landing crooked before it's properly positioned. This staged approach makes clean corner sealing achievable even in tight or awkward spaces.

Indoor and Outdoor Use

Tescon Profil is waterproof and suitable for both internal airtightness applications and external windtight and weather-resistant connections. Internally it's used for sealing corners in vapour control and airtightness membrane installations — including connections to Intello Plus, DA, and wood-based panels such as OSB. Externally it handles joints between breather membranes and sub-roof layers, connections at window and door frames on the outside face, and any angled junction that needs to remain windtight during the construction phase.

Where It's Used

  • Internal corners in airtightness membrane installations — particularly at wall-floor, wall-ceiling, and wall-to-wall junctions
  • Sealing reveals at window and door frames — the angled connection between frame and wall where a flat tape would bridge
  • Connections between vapour control membranes and adjacent building elements at corners
  • External angled junctions between breather membranes, sub-roof layers, and building structure
  • Sealing roof window reveals and dormer cheek junctions
  • Any corner or angled junction on planed timber, PVC, metal, concrete, or wood-based panel substrates

High Elasticity for Corner Protection

One of the key performance characteristics of Tescon Profil is its resistance to puncturing and tearing at corners — precisely the points where a less elastic tape would be most vulnerable. The elastic backing distributes any mechanical stress across a wider area rather than concentrating it at the fold point, making it significantly more durable at corners than a standard stiff-backed tape.

Application Notes

Surfaces should be clean, dust-free, and free from grease or silicone. On porous or absorbent substrates, apply Tescon Primer RP or Tescon Sprimer before taping to ensure maximum adhesion. Pre-fold the tape into an L-shape before removing either release strip. Remove the first release strip and press that face firmly onto the first surface, working from the corner outward. Remove the second release strip and press the remaining face firmly onto the adjacent surface. Finish by running a Pressfix seam roller along both faces to activate full adhesion. The split can be adjusted — a 1.2–2.5cm split works well for plastered reveals; a 2.5–3.5cm split suits most other corner applications.

UK Note: Tescon Profil supplied in the UK comes with two release paper strips. Some Proclima installation literature references three strips — this applies to European market versions only.
