Description

Soudal Soudafoam Window & Door SWS is Soudal's premium gun grade PU foam specifically formulated for sealing around window and door frames. Based on Soudal's FLEXIFOAM® technology, it cures to a flexible, permanently airtight seal that moves with the joint — making it the right choice for high-performance installations where a standard rigid foam would crack and fail over time. Recommended for all A, A+ and A++ rated windows and doors. 750ml gun grade can.

Why Window and Door Foam Isn't the Same as Standard PU Foam

Standard expanding foam is rigid once cured. That's fine for filling static voids — but window and door frames aren't static. They expand and contract with temperature changes, flex under wind load, and move slightly as buildings settle. A rigid foam seal around a frame will eventually crack at the edges, breaking the airtight layer and allowing heat loss, draughts, and potentially moisture ingress.

Soudafoam Window & Door SWS is engineered for exactly this challenge. Its FLEXIFOAM® formulation gives the cured foam three times the flexibility of standard PU foam, allowing it to follow the movement of the joint across its lifetime without cracking or delaminating. The seal stays airtight whether the frame is freshly installed or twenty years old.

Airtight and Acoustically Rated

Once cured, Soudafoam Window & Door SWS is completely airtight — tested and certified to RAL MO-01/1 and DIN 18542, the standards used to verify airtight window and door installations. It also delivers strong acoustic performance, achieving a sound reduction rating of 63 dB to ISO 717-1, making it a genuine performance product for noise-sensitive installations rather than just a gap filler.

Thermal conductivity is 34.5 mW/m·K, in line with the insulation performance expected from a premium window installation foam.

Gun Grade for Precision Application

Soudafoam Window & Door SWS is a gun grade product — it requires a professional foam gun for application. The gun format gives significantly better control than straw-applied foam: precise bead placement, consistent fill depth, and the ability to stop and restart cleanly. For window and door installations where accuracy matters and waste needs to be minimised, gun grade is the professional choice.

The can uses Soudal's Duravalve system, which maintains optimal yield throughout the shelf life of the can — even if stored or transported horizontally. There's no deterioration in performance as the can empties.

Where It's Used

  • Filling the perimeter gap between window and door frames and surrounding masonry or timber structure
  • Sealing around frames in timber frame, steel frame, and masonry construction
  • Joints with high or repetitive movement where rigid foam would crack
  • Applications requiring a certified airtight seal — particularly relevant for Part L compliance and air permeability testing
  • Thermal and acoustic insulation around frames in new build and retrofit
  • Sealing openings in roof constructions around roof windows and skylights
  • Any joint requiring vibration resistance

Recommended For

A, A+ and A++ rated windows and doors, and any installation where a certified airtight, thermally and acoustically performing seal is specified or required.

Application Notes

Shake the can vigorously for at least 20 seconds before use and fit to a foam gun. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from grease and dust — lightly moisten with water before applying to improve adhesion and accelerate cure. Fill gaps to approximately 65% capacity and allow the foam to expand to fill the remaining void. Shake the can regularly during use. For multi-layer fills, moisten between each layer.

Fresh uncured foam can be removed with Soudal Gun & Foam Cleaner or acetone — test on sensitive surfaces first. Cured foam can only be removed mechanically or with Soudal PU Remover.

Important: cured foam must be protected from UV light after installation — cover with paint, plaster, or render. Unprotected cured foam will degrade when exposed to sunlight.
