Description

Pro Clima Intello Plus is a high-performance intelligent vapour control layer (VCL) for use in timber frame, steel frame, and refurbishment projects. Its variable sd-value adapts to seasonal moisture conditions, protecting the building fabric from condensation damage. Supplied as a 1.5m x 50m roll, covering 75m².

What Makes Intello Plus Different

Standard vapour control layers have a fixed diffusion resistance — they do the same job in summer as they do in winter, regardless of what's happening to moisture levels inside the construction. Intello Plus works differently. Its diffusion resistance is humidity-variable, meaning it adapts automatically to the conditions around it.

In winter, when internal humidity is lower, the membrane tightens up and resists vapour migration from the warm interior into the insulation layer — exactly what you need to prevent condensation forming within the build-up. In summer, or when moisture levels rise (whether from construction moisture, a minor leak, or flanking from adjacent structures), the membrane opens up and allows that moisture to escape back into the building interior where ventilation can remove it. This self-regulating behaviour is something a conventional fixed-resistance vapour barrier simply cannot replicate.

The result is a membrane that gives contractors and specifiers a significantly higher margin of safety, particularly on projects where the construction moisture load is high, the external envelope is diffusion-closed (metal roofing, bitumen sheeting), or where dense-pack blown insulation is being used.

Where It's Used

Intello Plus is suitable across a wide range of applications in new build and retrofit:

  • Pitched roofs — ventilated and unventilated
  • Flat and green roofs
  • Timber and steel frame walls
  • Ceiling and floor applications
  • Retrofit airtightness — internal lining to roofs and ceilings in existing masonry buildings
  • Any build-up using fibrous or flexible insulation, including blown-in dense-pack

Construction

The membrane has three distinct layers. The inner face has a fleece backing that reduces friction during installation and helps prevent snags or punctures from becoming full tears. The core is the intelligent airtight membrane itself. The outer layer is a reinforcing mesh that significantly increases both tensile strength and nail/staple tear resistance — making Intello Plus one of the more robust membranes to work with on site, and the right choice where blown-in insulation is being compacted against it.

Tape Requirement

For every roll of Intello Plus (75m²), you'll need approximately 3 rolls of Tescon Vana 60mm tape to seal overlaps, laps to structure, and junctions. For irregular substrates and connections to masonry or timber where tape alone isn't suitable, use Orcon F joint sealant.
